About KY-AME

The Kentucky Additive Manufacturing Engine (KY-AME) is an initiative by Kentucky Science and Technology Corporation (KSTC) that envisions Additive Manufacturing (AM) as a key economic driver on a state, regional, and national scale. Building on initial work done through NSF AMT, our goal is to accelerate the adoption of metal AM in our region.

Who We Are

Accelerating the Adoption of Metal AM

We'll accomplish this goal by:

  • advancing AM research at leading universities

  • successfully translating that research into practice

  • mentoring SMBs to adopt metal AM

  • developing and training a robust AM workforce

At the center of KY-AME is the engagement of the region’s AM-capable small-medium businesses (SMBs) and their adoption of AM, resulting in meaningful economic impact. KY-AME will also work closely with SMBs to support the non-technical aspects of their AM adoption (finance, business model, staffing, etc.) leading to broader penetration of AM into higher volume applications in aerospace and defense, semiconductors, medical equipment and automotive.

The result of KY-AME will be growth in the manufacturing sector including more jobs at higher wages, while simultaneously reducing waste, cost, and lead times.
